Katrina Giries, MS, LPC, NCC

Our hearts are broken.  We have lost a beloved friend and wonderful colleague.  Her clients have lost a skilled therapist and valued advocate.  Her husband has lost a faithful and loving partner, and her children have lost a devoted, nurturing mother.

Katrina came to Preston Place Counseling five years ago when she was completing her LPC internship.  In that period of time, she has been an active and energetic member of our counseling group.  She has also been persistent in continuing her professional education by completing several certifications, including the “Train the Trainer” program with Safe Conversations/Relationships First.

Two and one-half years ago, she was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and she has been through almost endless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.  Saturday, August 12, her body finally succumbed.

  • Katrina was a person of Faith.  She knew this world was never her home, and she was just “passing through.”
  • Katrina was a person of Love.  She was a loving wife and mother, and her family will continue to be nurtured by all the years she was able to give them.
  • Katrina was a person of Passion for her work and Compassion for her clients.
  • Katrina was a person of Joy and Laughter and Hope.  That will never be quenched.

My colleagues and I will forever be grateful for the many ways our lives have been touched by Katrina.  Her impact on us will be felt for the rest of our lives!

Thank you, dear friend!
