A Word about “Safe Conversations”
A Word about “Safe Conversations”
Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt are two of my favorite people. They also happen to be two of the most influential people in my professional life.
They are a husband and wife team and for years have worked in the field of family relationships. They have collaborated specifically in several areas:
- Couples Therapy
- Research in Couples Relationships
- Training Couples Therapists
- Writing and Publishing
Over the past couple of years, the Hendrixes have moved to Dallas from New York City, and they have invested a great deal of their time, energy and money in an initiative they call “Safe Conversations.”
For many years, our culture has emphasized individuality, but Harville and Helen firmly believe that if we are going to heal our wounds: individual, marital, family and even societal, it must be done in the context of relationships.
They emphasize, “We are born in relationships, we are wounded in relationships, and we are healed in relationships.”
To date, they have conducted two “Safe Conversations” workshops for couples in Dallas, each with 500 participants. The workshops, materials and childcare are all provided “FFN” (Free For Nothin’).
Their third Dallas workshop is coming up June 6.
I hope you will consider signing up and telling others about this opportunity. This program, I believe, will have a profound impact on couples, families and ultimately upon the culture of Dallas.
