A Word about “Thank You!”

The following is a simple suggestion from

“Marriage Minute” by family researchers and authors

John and Julie Gottman.  They send their “Minutes”  out twice each week, and they are always thought-provoking.

Replace “Sorry” with “Thank You.”

“Sorry for venting.”

“Sorry for being late.”

“Sorry for taking up your time.”

What if you reframed apologies with appreciations?

“Thank you for listening.”

“Thank you for waiting.”

“Thank you for spending time with me.”

Of course, there are some things you should apologize for.  For everything else, try saying “thank you” instead.
